Toxic Triggers, Pt 9: Mistress Citrus

Note: This is Part 9 of an 11-part series of short posts on what triggers memories of ex-lover B., culminating on October 11, 2014, the First Anniversary of when he kissed me goodbye. Literally. His kiss was a kiss-off. I have not seen him since.

TRIGGER #9: Oranges

I recently posted about the OCD-like way B. always peels his oranges, so this will be a mighty short entry. Just to say that oranges trigger both satisfaction and sadness in me. Satisfaction in that oranges are sweet and I look at them fondly and with fond memories of B.

Bowl of oranges But sadness, too, in that he’s no longer my sweetie, and shall never be again.

Exit 4A

A former mistress (26 years, on-and-off) describes the good, the bad, and the ugly of her long-term affair. Conclusion: Affairs aren't necessarily destructive if kept in the correct perspective. Our experience enhanced BOTH our marriages.

That is, until his marriage ended and we began to love each other. When the affair morphed into a relationship, well, that's when it stopped being fun for me.

For 26 yrs we luxuriated in implicit Trust. When B. cheated on ME, it was the first time another person came into our relationship besides our respective spouses.

We have now irrevocably split.

    1. Oh how I wish.

It’s been a year and I’m still not over this man. Too long an affair (26yrs), way too many triggers!

Thanks for reading & commenting, Marty.

  1. I try so hard not to let Alan anywhere near where I live. I thank God he only came twice to my home. However, I imagine he will have more triggers then me especially since I am always driving to him and hanging out in his area.

      1. No, I don’t actually the only time I revisit places is with him and the only way I can see myself having triggers if I go to where he lives. I always been that way. I always had lovers/BFS that don’t live close to where I hang/live and always willing to drive.

  2. Though I do think of him when I have oyster shooters for he is the first I ever had them with and to be honest, if I drove down south I would probably think of him lots so I am always go north.
